Women who take control of their health empower themselves to live longer, disease-free lives. A lifetime of good health starts with prevention, including annual wellness exams and screenings. A women’s health doctor can be your greatest partner in prevention, offering you advice for healthy living and providing important screenings designed to identify complications and illnesses during their earliest stages. From adolescence to post-menopause, a woman’s health demands care and attention at all stages of life.

We use natural, Bioidentical hormones in forms of pellets, creams or pills to optimize hormone levels. Hormones have a drastic effect on the function of our entire body. Very often, both men and women develop hormonal abnormalities that can cause fatigue, depression, insomnia, weight gain, hot flashes and decreased sex drive.

We use the most accurate methods, like saliva testing, to check hormone levels. We can then prescribe bio-identical hormones that are identical to what the human body makes. Many doctors use Premarin, or synthetic hormones, because they are aggressively marketed, but were never designed for use on the human body.

Bio-identical Hormones, on the other hand, are generic, inexpensive and specifically designed for the human body. While Bio-Identical Hormones tend to have fewer side effects, we are conservative, and use only the minimal amounts, limiting any risk to our patients. We can use topical preparations, pills or even pellets that are inserted under the skin.

These pellets are about the size of a grain of rice and they are placed under the skin in the buttock area and they gradually give out hormones over 3-4 months. While we can prescribe oral and sublingual pills that dissolve under the tongue, the oral route is not the preferred method of getting hormones. This is because the stomach acid digests the hormones and liver breaks them into small pieces some of which are clotting factors increasing the risks of blood clots, heart attacks and strokes. There are studies showing that topical delivered hormones have a lower risk of blood clots, heart attacks and strokes when compared to oral forms.

Many women suffer from frequent UTIs, incontinence, vaginal dryness and pain with intercourse. After childbirth, women notice vaginal laxity that can impact their satisfaction with intercourse. With menopause, lot of women get vaginal atrophy or vaginal dryness. Stress urinary incontinence is another symptom appearing also in a younger demographic, in some cases already for women 20-45 years old.

FemTouch addresses vaginal health related conditions by promoting the remodeling of the vaginal mucous epithelium layer. The Fractional CO? laser is applied along the vaginal wall which results in very gentle controlled ablation and coagulation of the vaginal lining.

FemTouch by Lumenis is a non-hormonal, laser-based vaginal rejuvenation treatment with the ability to fully restore vaginal tissue while improving vaginal health related conditions. Some of the benefits of FemTouch include thicker tissue, increased natural lubrication, enhanced sexual pleasure, increased elasticity, and a decrease in urinary incontinence.

FemTouch procedures are safe, quick, virtually painless, and require no downtime. FemTouch applies laser energy directly to internal vaginal tissue in order to restore it back to a normal healthy functioning state.

The FemTouch probe is inserted into the vagina to focus fractional CO2 laser beams along the entire vaginal wall. The laser creates tiny controlled micro-injuries in order to promote the remodeling of the vaginal mucous epithelium layer (vaginal lining) stimulating the regeneration of new vaginal tissue by triggering collagen production.

FemTouch vaginal rejuvenation treatments have been shown to improve sexual satisfaction in women. The FemTouch laser reverses vaginal dryness which in turn reduces uncomfortable or painful sexual intercourse. Rejuvenated vaginal tissue can also increase sexual pleasure and satisfaction for both the woman and her partner.

Most patients will need 3 FemTouch treatment sessions (spaced about a month apart a week following the patient’s menstrual cycle) to realize their desired final results. Treatments take only a few minutes to perform. Patients are then recommended to undergo a once-yearly maintenance treatment to upkeep their vaginal health.

Many people dream of having families – usually in a specific time frame. Couples often prefer to plan the timing of their children’s births around work, finances, careers, education and life goals. Some want several children, where as others may want none. Regardless of how many children you want and when you want them, your gynecologist can be your partner in achieving your reproductive goals at every stage of life.

The average woman in America wants only two children? And in the U.S., the average woman chooses to have her first child between 25 and 26 years old? Of course, those are mere statistics and many women decide to begin having children in their early 20s, 30s, or even 40s. But regardless of when an average, healthy female decides to have her children, she’ll spend approximately 30 years using contraceptives or other methods of family planning in order to achieve her goals.

You can speak with a family planning doctor as young as 15 and all the way through your reproductive years. Regardless of whether you need help preventing pregnancy or planning it, your gynecologist can help you develop a realistic plan for achieving your goals.

Your family planning appointment will include a review of your medical history and a discussion of your reproductive goals, both short-term and long-term. You’ll probably have a physical exam, which may include a pelvic exam of your reproductive organs. Your doctor will ask about the details of your menstrual cycle and how frequently you have intercourse. Based on that information, he or she will make a recommendation for treatment if applicable.

There is a host of family planning resources available to women and couples who have specific reproductive goals. Examples include oral contraceptives, emergency contraception, fertility treatments, and permanent birth control.
